Three Days Until Advent…

Just three days until Advent begins… and I’m sitting here by the fire wishing for the same surprise we woke up to discover this time last year!

This time last year the railroad tracks of our life upended in the most beautiful way. We awoke to powdery soft snow blanketing everything in brilliant white. We declared it a snow day and after a hot chocolate breakfast spent most of the day outside playing, laughing, sliding and marvelling, breathing out and soaking in the unexpected disruption of our routine existence.

Sometimes disruption is exactly what we need, the skids put on a life slowing everything down to stillness- just for a moment, still enough to hear the falling of snow and our own breathing out.

Life can move at break neck speed, and without our little family even knowing it, stopping in the stillness and quiet of snow covering earth was just what we needed that day. A moment to play, rest and breathe.

Sometimes a disruption can be a gift. A gift we all need from time to time I suspect.

Advent begins in just three days. What if this coming season of Advent could be just this: a beautiful disruption to our everyday existence? An upending of our routine existence to make room for a manger, waiting for a King?

What if Christmas, instead of being a time when we amp up the spending and wind up our stress levels, could instead become a season when we disrupt our frenetic treadmills, turn off our screens and slow everything down, letting the story of God coming to earth disrupt our lives with quietness and hope?

In all the December rush Christmas is an opportunity to stop and allow God’s long story of grace to reach us, slowing everything down to stillness- just for a moment. Still enough to hear the falling of snow and our own breathing out.

This is my free gift to you this Christmas. An invitation to slow the Christmas story down and rest in it a while, allowing it to revive, restore and reconnect you to the story of His grace. The story describing the moment that God touched down on this spinning blue planet, enfolded Himself in human flesh, and took on all the brokenness and pain that had become our human experience.

He came (just as he had promised He would) that first Christmas long ago. And He comes again into this season to be with us anew. If we let Him. If we want Him. If we welcome the beautiful disruption of His presence with us.

To help you engage with the Long story of grace this Christmas I have a gift for you. A collection of 25 Advent and 12 Christmas printable journey Cards whispering the story slowly, day by day, moment by moment. You can pin the journey cards on your dashboard, sit them on your mantelpiece or window sill, carry them in your pocket, fold them into your advent calendar or even hang them on your Christmas tree!

This free gift is waiting for you to discover and download right now in our post box right HERE

You will also discover a simple ‘waiting manger’ Advent craft, to hold the journey cards this Advent and Christmas season and inspiration for an Advent wreathe and Advent candles.

The second part of your gift accompanies these story cards and will arrivein your email inbox each day: a carol to play and an Advent story-letter to read, exploring the story of a promise, an aching waiting world and a baby born to be King.

And in the next few days a few more gifts will be arriving- all designed to slow the Christmas story down and allow it to disrupt our lives with beauty and grace this Advent season.

This is my invitation to you this season- lets slow the Christmas story down, steep in it, and walk it out with Him this Christmas.

I’ll be in touch again soon.

Grace and Blessings,

Liz
